Sidney This dragon was created all by hand. I start with 20 gauge wire and begin building the body from there. As I wrap fibers around the wire slowly the shape is built one layer at a time. The fabric is then laid on the body and sewn to the body. I take pride in my work and am always trying to create different effects with fabric and fibers. The tail is fabric cut to the shape of a fanned feather tail. Then I careful pulled all the crossing weaved fibers out one by one only leaving the center vain and the horizontal fibers. Sidney's scales were particular time consuming however work and end results are satisfying. Each scale is a 1"x1" piece of fabric folded into points and sewn on piece by piece. His face is also made with the same building technique I use for the body. Each feature is added, sculpt much like working with clay. Sidney is almost entirely fabric and fiber, with exception of his eyes and wire armature. $3,000.00 |
