Stay Tuned Day 5: the Integrity Toys 2022 online event ends with a premiere and Jason Wu

The last day of the “Stay Tuned” online event had three dolls revealed: Integrity Toys made it look like the gala dinner of a normal convention, so we saw not one but two Jason Wu dolls. And there was also one NU Face doll, but instead of Jessy Ayala (who was noticeably absent throughout the event week), it was designed by David Buttry and Mark Tinkey

Despite the three dolls, we had only one series as inspiration: Sex And The City. The story goes that Lukas produced a new TV series named "Girl In The City", and we were also treated with clips from ITFTV: Integrity Toys Fashion TV, something like EW TV red carpet coverage. Giselle was the star of the new series, channelling Sarah Jessica Parker, while Aymeline, in a double appearance wearing two different Jason Wu looks, was on the premiere red carpet to support her.

Watch out fashion lovers, real-life fashion designer Giselle Diefendorf is ready to add "actress" to her resume as she stars in "Girl In The City", a modern re-invention of popular romantic comedies from the early 2000s! It follows her very fashionable adventures in the city that never sleeps, as she tries to juggle her fabulous career as a top fashion critic and her complicated relationship with a fashion designer that she frequently needs to critique, oh and of course, her never-ending love affair with her lover's main fashion brand competitor- Manero! In the pilot episode simply titled "Hello Lover", you will fall in love with Giselle in the main role, just like we did!

So if this was a convention, one of the Aymeline ladies would have been the convention doll, the other the centrepiece and Giselle would have been one of the W Club event dolls - probably the souvenir one. She tries to emulate the famous Dior by John Galliano newspaper print dress that Carrie was wearing in Sex And The City but the dress has quite a different structure and the shoes look more like cheap Manolo knockoffs than the real thing (MANERO for Manolo, lol - btw Tony Manero is the name of the character John Travolta plays in Saturday Night Fever and Stayin’ Alive). Since I have seen better made shoe buckles from Integrity (and weirdly enough there is an example on the very next doll), that would look more like the ones on the original Manolos, it puzzles me as to why this choice was made - maybe lack of resources in the factory? They look bad. The doll is beautiful, with the trademark SJP hair in abundance - and it is the second Giselle we get this year.

Can anyone tell me why Aymeline has the original Hangisi Manolos while Giselle was left with a knockoff? LOL, cannot wait to see the two of them in a catfight for the pumps! A beautiful Aymeline, with red hair, that reminds me a bit of Androgyny Avantguard doll. The dress is not actually in his 2021 Fall collection but looks like a cross between a gown from that collection with an OOAK gown he made for Kristin Davis for the And Just Like That premiere (fits with this occasion perfectly, right?). She’s a catch - the price is the same as her previous incarnations and she has it all.

Even though the doll is named Jason Wu Collection Spring 2020, there is no such dress in that collection apart from a similar but quite different finale gown. W Club confirmed that Jason said this is the same 2012 gown worn by the first Net-A-Porter 10th anniversary exclusive doll (in chartreuse) back in 2017. I guess since they already had the pattern, they decided it looks close enough to name it 2020. The gorgeous doll reminds me a lot of the ITBE Higher doll, but (unfortunately) in a lighter skin tone. She would have looked so much better in light honey or latino. She compliments the red head perfectly, plus they will make an awesome trio with my NAP Midnight Garden blonde Aymeline.

Poppy had a fantastic opportunity to participate in a new ad campaign for "Drink Me" cola. She was so excited to be a part of the project! It would include not only a print ad for magazines but also a nationwide commercial! The theme of the campaign involved beloved storybook characters drinking the popular soda pop brand, and with Poppy’s love of reading and drinking cola, she thought this was the perfect fit for her. Once she stepped foot on the wonderfully decorated set and tried on her fabulous costume, she knew she had made the right decision!

It seems to me that the first W club doll this year took forever to appear! Has it ever been this late before? Oh dear Alice you are so late that the White Rabbit looks positively punctual compared to her! I would have preferred a doll like this to appear either as part of Nu Fantasy or another themed collection - definitely not as one of our five club dolls. Adorable and cute as she is, she failed to attract my interest in acquiring her. Even reading the email was perfunctory. With pricing as it is now, I will have to pass on this - not something I usually do with club dolls. On the positive side, her face looks gorgeous and the screening looks new to me. People said that the rabbit can be found on AliExpress, so you can have one without the added doll costs. Alice has been done to death from all major doll companioes in every size and iteration possible, so adding another one to the list, beautiful as she is, does nothing for me.

Backstage with the Hommes: the new Monarchs Homme collection is here!

Integrity Toys and the W CLub had an online event Thursday to present three new Monarch dolls - it started at 3.00 am Greek time, which was not convenient at all. Dear Integrity and Carol Roth, could you please start doing your presentations again on Saturdays at a more convenient time for us (not all of Europe having to watch after midnight!), or at the very least on a Friday so that we do not have to think about waking up early for work the next morning. Also Vaughn mentioned that they are going to be doing more regular presentations for new stuff - but the actual production and delivery is still affected from global events.

There are two new characters, one of which is a brand new sculpt. The other new guy has the sculpt of Kyle Spencer from the American Horror Story: Coven collection. And the third is the Darius 2.0 sculpt. Also note that only Tae Min comes in the Monarch body. Vaughn did a great job of researching and adopting current trends. Two are dealer dolls (Darius and Tae Min) and Rashad is a lottery doll for W Club. Let’s check the guys out.

New Asian character and sculpt - even though there are at least two Asian sculpts forgotten and unused, Takeo Mizutani from Fashion Royalty and Kyu from Dynamite Girls. We need to see them both return! That said, this one is a smash. Apart from the messy hair (which I am certain will never come like this in the final production doll), everything looks amazing . The face is gorgeous, with the eyeliner giving him that extra something that made me pre-order (and confirmed).

His clothing is very on trend and the accessories are great - love the wi-fi icon on the beanie. Is that an Apple Watch? Only thing missing is a bag - and at this price point, it should have been included.

This is the first time I like the new Darius sculpt - great face screening. I am not so sure about the hair though - I would have liked either less dense big braids that would start from the forehead fade, or much thinner braids like the Mattel Looks guy. He is the lovechild of Milli Vanilli and Lenny Kravitz.

His clothing is gorgeous, especially that tromp-l’oeil jacket that looks like he has two, when in fact it is only one, cleverly constructed. If only it had different colour selection. Again, great accessories but no bag. Shame.

Great re-use of the Kyle Spencer sculpt - which I did not like in its first incarnation. If he had shorter hair and a different style of facial hair, I might have entered the lottery. He reminds me a lot of Once Upon A Time’s Colin O’ Donoghue (Captain Hook). Will wait for his next incarnation.

He has the best accessory set of the bunch. Oh wait - you can actually get a bag in this price level - and give a W Club discount too! Come on Integrity, this sucks. hey all should have gotten bags.

I do not know if these prices are with the special discount for W Club members that we will be getting for many dolls this year instead of the coupon or these are regular prices (my money is on the discount and that the regular price will be $175). They also mentioned the effort to have lower shipping costs from USPS and that they get lower prices from them as a company - which is not true, as I had people ship me dolls from the US and pay the same price as Integrity charges. Most of us had predicted that the NU Face upgrade doll this year would be Eden as a complimentary doll to her NU Classic twin, Lilith, and here she is. Just like the Mademoiselle Eden and Lilith dolls. She has a very different style to that of her sister: she is the downtown to Lilith’s uptown girl. A common thread would be the lovely colours of all the different elements of the outfit and the same shape glasses. The only way to make this one better would have been to have her in an afro - the middle part is beginning to look tired already. The top reminds me a lot of the convention Vanessa one and it is probably this one by Alexander McQueen. The bag and shoes are Versace (La Medusa small handbag and La Medusa Charm mules). Put her in the cart I say.

I must say that if there was another character instead of Agnes (and of course not Elyse or Eugenia yet again) I would have been a bit happier. Agnes is popular and is a favourite of mine, but there is no shortage of her ever, while some other ladies have been missing in action (Kyori, where art thou?). The doll is very beautiful and reads like a lighter version of Miami Agnes, but the dress frankly looks like a mess to me. When you do a feather and crystals covered piece of clothing in this scale, making it very tailored with cut outs and stuff is overkill. Since it was 60s inspired as Jessy informed us on the video, the dress could have been an A-line shift that would have quite a stronger impact with the feathers and the embroidery. The hair style is so Poppy Parker (The Happening for example). And one last thing: why are US people pronouncing Weiss like whiss instead of the proper (German) way which is vaiss?

I think this is the first Poppy that makes evident the fact that she is Tullabelle’s grandmother - I can so imagine the latter wearing this outfit. The 70s vibe is strong with this one. They mentioned on the presentation that, while the Palm Springs collection is still forthcoming, there will be Poppy dolls that are not part of it - this is one of them. Of course the hime haircut, while originating in the Heian period Imperial court of Japan, was popular during the 70s in Japan because of a pop idol adopting it. Cher also had it in the early 70s (at least five photos here and a gorgeous one here), while W Club event Ayumi had it in 2020. Gorgeous doll and outfit. David posted some photos on his instagram account with inspiration for her.

The 5th and final W Club doll is here - and it's an instant NU Classic!

The 5th and final W Club doll of the 2021 membership year was revealed yesterday to members via email. As expected by many, it is a NU Face doll - the surprise is that the doll is Lilith in dark A-tone. IT designer Jessy Ayala delivered on a long awaited collector desire (twins in a dark skin tone). So here we have Lilith Blair, named as NU. Classic, with a dark skin and curly puffs, wearing a suit that looks like Chanel but is instead a Saint Laurent Fall 2021 outfit. Want to bet that one of the upgrade dolls for 2022 will be Eden in a dark skin tone and complimenting outfit as was done with Mademoiselle Lilith?

What a great way to start Black History Month! I am not a fan of the Lilith/Eden sculpt; I consider it too bland and characterless (if it was a human I’d use the word vapid) to my liking. On the other hand, artists prefer a blank canvas to create magic and sometimes a great doll can come from that - as is the case here. She looks amazing, from her make up and her hair style, to the outfit and the accessories. is the price too high? Yes it is. I cannot understand how the third club doll two months ago had two outfits and more detailed accessories (no, giving us those beautiful Amina Muaddi shoes and a Prada Cleo bag clone is not enough) plus two pairs of shoes (Lukas I’m looking at you) and retailed only $5.00 more. Supposedly the outfits are what raises the cost of a dressed doll, as Integrity Toys has repeatedly mentioned. So what gives? Inquiring minds want to know.

Also how come Lilith is described as a true New Yorker in the story blurb? The twins are Eurasians according to their storyline. Unless the meaning is that she is a true New Yorker at heart. LOL
