Integrity Toys Luxe Life 2018 Convention: Style Lab

This year's Style Lab concept centres around  Tulabelle True™ as she helps promote the new Rufus Blue™ fashion label called MISS BEHAVE. Each doll in the Style Lab is sold nude and outfits are sold separately, as always. What’s new this year is that every doll and each outfit include a bonus "build-a-doll" component that allows people who buy the entire collection to build an additional, complete Poppy Parker dressed doll when the entire collection is purchased. More further down in the post. Let’s see the 2018 MISS BEHAVE Style Lab Collection

Fashion Fairytale: Integrity Toys 2017 Convention part 3 - Style Lab Collection The Industry goes to Wonderland

The Style Lab this year marks a major change. No more CI dolls but in their place, The Industry makes its first convention appearance and some Poppy Parker dolls are added to the mix. I wonder if the Poppies have The Industry body as well, which would be logical since they are part of this collection. The designs are inspired by Alice In Wonderland. As per usual, each doll in the Style Lab is sold nude and outfits are sold separately. Again the group as a whole is underwhelming, especially considering both the general theme but also Wonderland. Some of the fashions do rise above the rest but they are the exception that proves the rule. Pet peeve: why do they describe male dolls as figures? They are dolls, simple as that. Now, shall we go down the rabbit hole?

Integrity had done most of the popular fairytales in their Nu Face line, with Wonderland in IFDC 2010, with Dynamite Girl Gavin as Alice. This version of Alice is a bit darker but not goth enough. Maybe on a different doll? It does give off a Russian folk vibe.

This is the Queen Of Hearts I presume. Not very queenly but oh so Saint Laurent inspired:

There should have been something black instead of those red pants under the coat. A long slit skirt made of fishnet maybe? A mini skirt with a long fishnet overlay making a train in the back? Something suggesting a Queen anyway.

Here’s the rabbit then. The black and white choice makes it look more like a Playboy bunny dressed for church then a Fairytale inspired one. A monocle and chain watch would have made quite a difference. And the doll is boring, did we not get a similar Liu Liu in the first Industry collection?

There’s always one male doll in each Style Lab collection that I don’t like at all, no matter what. This is the one for 2017, even though he’s channeling the Cheshire Cat, one of my favourite characters of Wonderland. Meh does not even begin to describe it. Another new character (again with an old CI sculpt) for Industry that will look great with a different styling.

First Integrity Toys collection for 2017 unveiled: The Industry

Welcome to the new home of The Fashion Doll Chronicles! The new webpage is designed to expand the scope and content of the blog, while staying true to it! So you will be able to keep on reading the blog (and all the old posts of course), while having the joy to see large photos categorised into various sections. I have made the old blog redirect here. Our new address is www.fashiondollchronicles.com and the direct address to the blog now is www.fashiondollchronicles.com/fashiondollchronicles . Let me know what you think about the new website and redesign!

In other news, Integrity Toys just unveiled their new collection, their first in 2017, and it is the much anticipated Industry full collection. So far we had only seen two dolls, one for the general public and one in the convention, both being the 12" version of Tulabelle. New characters are introduced now, two girls and two boys. David Buttry is the man behind this collection and he has done a great job. The dolls look very modern and hip, with the incredible accessories stealing the show. My favourites are the guys and I have them preordered. The collection is available for preorder now from the regular IT dealers, so go ahead and get the ones you want. Be quick as the W Club had a heads up so some dolls might be sold out already. Let's see them one by one.

Foot Sculpt: Traditional High-Heeled Feet
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: Japan

Tulabelle True™ is a fully articulated 12.5 inch doll with fully rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. Tulabelle is wearing a little black dress, paired with a sequined cropped jacket. She has a welath of accessories including a smart phone, and a coffee cup. Jewellery, a bag and boots are included too. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. This doll cannot stand alone; a doll stand is included.

I did not like the first Tulabelle and I have still not changed my mind about the sculpt, even if she has gorgeous red hair like this version. Just a reminder that according to the storyline she is Poppy Parker's granddaughter and a fashion blogger, hence the smart phone and the coffee cup, as she is supposedly frequenting fashion shows and blogs about them. I like the dress but the jewellery look wrong with it. The boots are a rehash of the NU Face ones from their last collection, but minus the gold soles and heels. The striped tights look like a zebra (not good). The pink lipstick reminds me of a previous Vanessa (and other recent FR dolls) and does not look very current in fashion, as one can see while checking last autumns Spring/Summer collections. The spirit of he outfit is a bit Balmain, which can be good or bad, depending on your personal taste. I love the dress, her bag with the word DOLLFACE on it (very tongue-in-cheek) and of course the phone and cup.

Liu Liu Ling™ Dressed Doll
The Industry™
Approximate Ship Date: Late Spring/Early Summer 2017
Edition Size: 600 Dolls Worldwide
Suggested Retail Price: $125.00 US

Doll Tech Specs:

Head Sculpt: Liu Liu Ling (New Sculpt!)
Hair Color: Pale Pink
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-Applied
Body Type: The Industry 1.0
Foot Sculpt: Flat (Articulated at the Ankles)
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White

Liu Liu Ling™ is a fully articulated 12.5 inch doll with a combination of rooted hair and flocked hair and features hand applied eyelashes. Liu Liu is wearing a hooded faux-fur jacket over a layered mini-dress and complements the look with a jewellery set, a high-contrast carry-on bag and a rose gold cell phone. Liu Liu is the very first doll from The Industry Collection to feature the new articulated flat foot and she comes with two flat pairs of shoes, a pair of knee-high boots and a pair of sandals. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. This doll cannot stand alone; a doll stand is included.

The hair remind me of a Barbie with a similar hairstyle in yellow. but the rest is pure Integrity. The face though does not make me want her. It must be the first Asian sculpt Integrity does that does not click with me. The dress is amazing, with the layering of knit over fabric and the micro-sequins on the sleeves. The coat though is awkward and bulky and does not flatter her at all. Wondering how the flat feet will work in real life as one cannot tell from the photos. They look more refined than Poppy's articulated feet though. She has the same phone as Tulabelle. while the bag is not as original in style. The jewellery looks nice.

Item # 88004
Zine Queen
Binx Barone™ Dressed Doll
The Industry™
Approximate Ship Date: Late Spring/Early Summer 2017
Edition Size: 600 Dolls Worldwide
Suggested Retail Price: $125.00 US

Doll Tech Specs:

Head Sculpt: Binx Barone (New Sculpt!)
Hair Color: Brunette
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-Applied
Body Type: The Industry 1.0
Foot Sculpt: Traditional High-Heeled Feet
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: New Hispanic

Binx Barone™ is a fully articulated 12.5 inch doll with fully rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. Binx Barone comes dressed in a long jacquard print overcoat and intricately constructed cocktail dress, accessorized with jewellery, a black purse, cat-eyed glasses, socks and shoes. BINX also comes with a golden tablet. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. This doll cannot stand alone; a doll stand is included.

Binx is, according to the story line, a fashion editor reporting on the collections. She is the only doll with a darker skin tone in this collection, a Latina, while there is no African American doll yet. I bet there will be one added at a later point, although they could have made one of the two caucasian or asian dolls into one. Binx looks nice but has a slightly wide face which is not flattered by the hairstyle of the doll. And while each item she is wearing looks good by itself, the combination is a bit off. Love the tablet! The socks-with-shoes combo should have been used for the Versace vinyl mini dresses at the convention, as they were the ones used in real life. Her bag is very nice too. The coat looks more like something a Fashion Royalty lady would wear and the same goes with most of her jewellery. That of course might signify that Binx is an older character than the other dolls in the collection.

Tate Tanaka™ Fashion Figure
The Industry™
Approximate Ship Date: Late Spring/Early Summer 2017

Doll Tech Specs:

Head Sculpt: Tate Tanaka (New Sculpt!)

Skin Tone: Japan

Tate Tanaka™ is a fully articulated 12.5 inch fashion figure with a combination of rooted and flocked hair. Tate comes dressed in a look composed of a long-sleeved sweater, detailed pants and a high-contrast hooded winter jacket. His accessories include a boot print bag, a watch, sunglasses and a tablet. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. This doll cannot stand alone; a doll stand is included.

Another Asian boy for Integrity, Tate looks great and is dressed amazingly well too. There's nothing I do not love about this guy, so he's preordered of course! In the story line he is a fashion designer, his grandmother is Tina Tanaka (Poppy's friend using the first Ayumi sculpt) and is Tulabelle's boyfriend.

Beauty Boss
Cabot Clark™ Fashion Figure
The Industry™
Approximate Ship Date: Late Spring/Early Summer 2017
Edition Size: 600 Fashion Figures Worldwide
Suggested Retail Price: $125.00 US

Doll Tech Specs:

Head Sculpt: Cabot Clark (New Sculpt!)
Hair Color: Platinum
Eyelashes: No
Body Type: Homme 1.5
Foot Sculpt: Homme
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White

Cabot Clark™ is a fully articulated 12.5 inch fashion figure with short, fully rooted hair. Cabot wears a sheer shirt with a pair of silver-toned trousers under a "fur" jacket and comes with a miniature makeup case and ultra-detailed miniature "makeup" palettes and faux-brushes. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. This doll cannot stand alone; a doll stand is included.

Although he is supposedly a new sculpt, he reminds me too much of either Chip or Auden - he could be the old Chip face (as that character now has a new face), no? I love everything about him, he's glam and gorgeous and so are his accessories, which will be hard to keep out of the hands of all the ladies in my collection. I bet he will be a very popular guy at home, ha ha. My only reservation is the apparent velcro strip for his shirt closure at the front. I just wonder how the delicate shirt fabric will remain safe from it.

So what do you think of the first full Industry collection? Are you getting any dolls? If yes, which ones?

The 2016 Integrity Toys Convention: Supermodels part VIII: The Welcome Gift Set is completed!

During the first two days, attendees got the remaining parts of the Industry/Tulabelle gift set. They had the chance to add a two-piece outfit that channels Tulabelle's grandmother Poppy Parker, with a Warhol inspired print of Poppy's face on a bright blue "A line" mini-dress, under a bright orange "fur" coat and a tweed jacket and shorts with thigh-high black socks.

Look No.2 (Outfit only)

While this would look great on Poppy, styled in a mod fashion, it looks weird on Tulabelle. Maybe with a different hairstyle she will rock it. My reference for this would be the green fur coat from the infamous 1971 Yves Saint Laurent collection...

Willy Van Rooy in Yves Saint Laurent Fur Coat, photographed by Hans Feurer for ELLE, Spring / Summer, 1971

...but it could equally well be Rihanna in Balmain.

Yes, it is She's Not There Poppy on the dress. Edie Sedgwick or Twiggy?

Look No.3 (Outfit only)

This looks like Moschino resort 2016:

So she could wear it with the pink pumps as well, pity she does not have the black bag too. Oh wait, a convention doll with a bag!

The 2016 Integrity Toys Convention: Supermodels part I - Welcome Gift Set

Yes, it's this time of the year: the Integrity Toys convention is taking place in Chicago and I will be posting all news related to it and the avalanche of new dolls coming our way. Wednesday is the early arrival and registration day, so we get the chance to see the welcome gift set. It is back again, as in previous years there was only a doll and some time it was only part of an early registration event. Integrity Toys picked the new Industry series for it, and here's Tulabelle. Attendees will be getting more outfits and accessories for her during the convention to complete the gift set.

Tulabelle is a 12-inch fully articulated fashion doll with thick, luscious rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes. A doll stand is included in the set. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

Wonder which super model she is supposed to be. The fashion is very late 80s - early 90s in style, as are most of them from a few photos that have popped up online. What I noticed in some photos of this doll from people that got her, is that her head and body skin colour do not match, a problem that the first Industry doll had as well and was recalled/delayed because of it. She looks a lot like Hanne Erikson in miniature.
