What is “Artistic Figures in Cloth?”

Artistic Figures In Cloth promotes fabric and fiber arts.  There are classes for all levels from beginners to advanced students. All the techniques taught at AFIC can be used to make dolls, but the level to which our students take their knowledge clearly crosses the line and the result is art.  AFIC art doll experience is more than just classes, it is a place where muses come out and play! You will build friendships that will last a life time. The excitement of the students and teacher just adds to the already heightened atmosphere. Our hand picked vendors put on an awesome display of their very best products.  The exhibits are breathtaking.  The workshops are packed with exciting and useful techniques.  AFIC is a professional level event that maintains a cozy and fun atmosphere.

AFIC is based on fabric figures but not limited to fabric. As an artist and doll maker you want to expand your skills.  It is in your nature to incorporate new products and ideas into your work.  This is part of the journey to creativity and learning.  We understand this  and do not limit our classes to just fabric.  As our students’ interests grow, we want to grow with you. Art doll makers need to be able to branch out and merge a variety of techniques into their creations.   2009 workshops have everything you are looking for and more. There are special techniques and products for all levels in beading, face and body sculpting, painting, fabric manipulation, and construction techniques. Do you want to try your hand at felting, mixed media or have the perfect project to use up all those special fabrics, laces and cool stuff you have been collecting over the years?  If you love making three-dimensional art, or working with fiber arts we have the class for you.  Learn new fabric embellishment techniques, how to use new products, and incorporate them into your artistic figure.   Learn all this and more from our professional teachers. Come join the fun!
